The Ford Escape, a popular compact crossover, has undergone exciting improvements between the 2022 and 2023 model years, capturing the attention of local drivers across four generations. Let's dive into the differences between the two models.
Performance-wise, the 2023 Escape has a modified trim lineup, which includes the base, the Active, the PHEV, the ST-Line, the ST-Line Selection, the ST-Line Elite, and the Platinum. However, the four powertrains available in the 2022 model year are still available in 2023. The base engine is a 180-horsepower, turbo, 1.5-liter, three-cylinder engine with optional all-wheel drive. The higher trims have a turbo 2.0-liter, 250-horsepower engine with standard all-wheel drive. Additionally, two available powertrains include a 2.5-liter hybrid, a 192-horsepower system, and an alternative PHEV that generates 210 total horsepower.
In terms of appearance, the 2023 Ford Escape sports a redesigned front end and improved rear styling. The new look includes a larger, reshaped grille with metallic accents on the sides, a restyled bumper with a metallic strip, and deep-seated air vents. The headlights now feature a new look with a pair of U-shaped LED ribbons topped by a solid LED bar. At the rear, you'll find a liftgate spoiler, a molded bumper, and edgy headlights with a double-element design.
Inside the cabin, the 2023 model year features the most significant update with the new Sync 4 system paired with a redesigned central display screen. While some features have been reshuffled to different trim levels, carryover features remain unchanged, including a 10-speaker Bang & Olufsen sound system, an automated parking system, a panoramic sunroof, a tow package, a wireless charging pad, adaptive cruise control, a navigation system, a surround-view camera, memory settings for the driver's seat, a digital instrument panel, and more.
