Looking to upgrade to a new Ford F-150 soon? With nine trims available in 2023, the decision may come down to choosing between the XL and XLT models. Let's take a closer look at what sets these two trims apart.
Performance-wise, both the XL and XLT come with a base V6, 3.3-liter gas engine that delivers 290 horsepower. However, the F-150 XL now offers the Rattler off-road package, exclusively available in the SuperCab and SuperCrew cab styles. This package includes all-terrain tires, a front differential, a transfer case, and more skid plates. The FX Off-Road package is also available for both trims, adding a drive mode for rock crawling, an off-road suspension, hill descent control, and an electronic locking rear differential.
In terms of appearance, the F-150 boasts a bold, road-conquering design with broad, tall dimensions and a solid definition running across the sides. The front features large, stacked headlights with a bent LED light ribbon on two sides, an expansive grille that trends inward slightly at the sides, and a bumper with an upturned look in the center to define the truck's strength further. The 2023 F-150 XL comes with 17-inch steel wheels, while the XLT offers aluminum wheels, a power-locking tailgate, heated and powered side mirrors, and fog lights.
As for cabin and safety equipment, the XL comes with Apple CarPlay with Android Auto, a single-zone climate management system, a Sync4 infotainment system, an 8-inch central display screen, forward collision mitigation, a lane departure alert, and a few other features. The XLT builds on these features by adding voice controls for the Sync4 system, lane keeping, rear automatic brakes, and a blind-spot monitor.
