The Ford SUV lineup holds several exciting possibilities for you to consider, including the 2022 Escape and the Edge. These are both two-row crossover SUVs with wonderful features and capabilities, but they stand apart in important ways. For example, the Escape is a smaller and more affordable option, and the Edge has more cargo and passenger space. What else should you be aware of about the Edge and the Escape before you finalize your plans to take home a specific model?
The 2022 Ford Escape is offered with your choice of three powertrains. The base option is a 181-horsepower, 1.5-liter, three-cylinder engine with an eight-speed auto transmission. A 2.5-liter hybrid engine that produces 200 combined horsepower is also available. Top Escape trims have a turbo 2.0-liter engine that gives off 250 horsepower. The Edge, on the other hand, has two engine options. Most of the Edge’s trims have a 250-horsepower, turbo 2.0-liter engine. However, the Edge ST has a 2.7-liter, turbo V6 engine that gives you 335 horsepower. The Edge's engines both have an all-wheel-drive design.
The compact Escape has a sporty look that easily garners admiration on the road. Its profile shows a long, rounded nose with a relatively flat roof. The sides are deeply sculpted with a solid accent bar running through the lower-side panels. The Edge has larger dimensions with a tall, angled hood and sharp headlights. The hood is raked at the rear. The Edge’s sides have a pinstripe accent line and solid individuality through the lower portion of the doors.
You can enjoy an excellent selection of convenience features, technologies, and driver’s aids in both of these models. Both models, for example, are offered with a panoramic sunroof, a heads-up display screen, leather upholstery, parking sensors, an auto-dimming rear mirror, a dual-zone auto climate control system, heated seats, and more. Top Edge trim levels have a more advanced sound system, a combination of leather and suede upholstery, and more assistive safety features.
